Handwoven expanded sateen faced Bedford cord heavy winter quilt. pieced together in the middle with wool running stitch, edged with black wool flannel and quilted in lines with a cotton/linen natural back.

This is a homage to some of my ancestors who were from Bedford and the Fens - lace makers and farmers, working with their hands, working the land. I oversized the cord to look like ploughed furrows. Colours of black like the soil there, natural un-dyed marl British wool with flecks, like lace and the warm colour of sunsets.

Can be used as a heavy winter bedspread, or hung on the wall.
